Someone contacted me selling wikipedia backlinks. Not sure how they work and if they are worth the price. Could someone throw some light on this?

Yes Wikipedia links are good enough if they stay, the more powerful is the Wikipedia page if you have on your own brand name or company name then it will be goodd for the branding.
